Benefits of Living in Chester County

Philadelphia is a great location for work, sightseeing, watching a big league game, catching a stadium concert, and other major events.

The downside to city life is that it’s also very busy, crowded, and noisy. To escape the hectic pace of the city, many Pennsylvanians prefer to live in the surrounding suburbs. Though there are a lot of great communities to make a home in the Philly suburbs, Chester County is the one that tops the list.

There are a lot of reasons (way too many to discuss in a simple blog post), but here are some of the top reasons so many former city-goers flock to Chester County, PA!

A Laid-Back Location

When you think of a major city, “quiet” isn’t the first word that pops into your head. Philadelphia is such a major hub of activity, that it would never be mistaken as a tranquil town. From major league sporting events to day-long parades to traffic at all hours, the city craves constant activity. Some PA residents may love the hustle and bustle of city life - while others enjoy the serene surroundings of the suburbs.

If you enjoy peace and quiet, then Chester County is the ideal setting. While it’s not a remote location, ChesCo (as it’s referred to by locals) offers all the best elements of the city, country, and suburbs. Take a short drive down the road and you’ll see shopping centers, business complexes, and schools of all kinds. Turn down a side street and you may be treated to the sight of a local horse farm or nursery.

ChesCo’s unique mix of these elements is perfect if you enjoy convenience, comfort, and quiet.

Chester County is not the typical city suburb. While some of our neighboring counties look like mini-versions of the city, ChesCo has a touch of the country to it.

But not let our rustic elements fool you. ChesCo is still just a few miles away from the city. If you have to commute to Philly for work or school, you won’t have to travel very far. By accessing U.S. Route 202 (Chester County’s major roadway), you can easily connect with other major roadways such I-95 North, the Schuylkill Expressway and U.S. Route 1 for easy commuting to Center City, North Philadelphia, South Philly, Manayunk, and all of the other city neighborhoods.

Chester County is also extremely close to other popular Philadelphia suburbs such as Montgomery County (home of the King of Prussia Mall), Lancaster County (Amish Country), Bucks County (known for its scenic hills), and Delaware County (AKA DelCo and home to such popular attractions as Subaru Park and the legendary Tower Theater).

Plus, ChesCoresidents can also easily travel to Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and New York, too.

Top-Rated School Systems

One of the main reasons many PA families flock to Chester County is to enroll their children in some of the area’s highest-rated grade, middle and high schools. Downingtown Area School District (DASD) is not only one of ChesCo’s most highly-rated school systems, it also ranks high in the state and nation.

Three of DASD’s best schools (Lionville Elementary School, Lionville Middle School, and Downingtown High School East) are all less than 10 minutes away from our doorstep.

Plus, Chester County is also home to some of the best colleges and universities in the State, including Widener University - Exton Campus, West Chester University, Immaculata University, and Penn State Great Valley - all of which are conveniently close to our apartment community.

More Green Areas

Unlike the city (and even other neighboring suburbs), Chester County is home to plenty of wonderful parks, recreational facilities, scenic trails and luscious green spaces. For picnics, pick-up ball games, and more, there are 727-acres of enjoyment at Exton Park. If you enjoy hiking or biking, check out the Chester Valley Trail (which runs through Exton Park). Those who love watching wildlife will enjoy spending time at the wetlands and woodlands of Black Rock Sanctuary. When you want to enjoy the great outdoors, Chester County’s parks and trails are there for you.

These are just a few of the many reasons ChesCo rates high on the list of best Philadelphia suburbs. And Claremont of the Square ranks high on the list for best apartments in Chester County, PA!
